I know first-hand that for busy moms, finding time for personal and spiritual growth can be challenging amid the demands of family life. However, reading the Bible regularly can provide essential solace, guidance, and strength. It is crucial for moms to nurture their souls to be the best version of themselves for their families. Here are five practical tips to encourage moms to prioritize Bible reading and discover the blessings that come with it.

Tip #1-Create a Daily Routine

Establishing a daily routine for Bible reading is crucial for busy moms. Find a specific time that works best for you, whether it’s early in the morning before the kids wake up or during nap times in the afternoon. Consistency is key in forming a habit, so commit to setting aside a few minutes each day to immerse yourself in the Word of God. Consider using a Bible reading plan or devotionals to help you stay focused and on track.

Tip #2-Start Small and Be Realistic

As a mom, it’s understandable that you may have limited time for personal activities. Instead of overwhelming yourself with the thought of lengthy reading sessions, start with small, manageable portions of the Bible. Choose a single verse or a short passage each day that resonates with you. Quality matters more than quantity, and even a few minutes of thoughtful reflection on the Word can be incredibly enriching. As life seasons change the more you will get to spend. Remember snacks are not meals so make time to read the Word.

Tip #3-Engage in a Bible Study Group

Joining or forming a Bible study group with fellow moms can provide great accountability and creates community. Years ago when we lived in Hawaii, I met a few moms who wanted to form a group. I made some amazing friends who I still stay connected with today. Sharing experiences, insights, and challenges with others on a similar spiritual journey creates a sense of accountability and encouragement. These groups provide a supportive space where moms can discuss the Bible’s teachings, apply them to real-life situations, and grow together in faith. Again, when we moved to Florida I met a Christian mom, in all places, Chick-fil-a. She invited me to her church womens Bible study and I was extremely blessed by those women. We still have remained friends today. Get out of your comfort zone and find community!

Tip #4-Incorporate Bible Reading into Family Time

We all like a “two birds with one stone” deal! Incorporate Bible reading into family time is a wonderful way to both encourage yourself and set a positive example for your children. As a homeschooling mom this is a great way to get your family in the word and out of the textbooks. We have also done family devotional together after dinner with my husband present. Consider reading a short Bible story or verse during mealtime or before bedtime. Engage your children in discussions about the teachings and encourage them to ask questions. I like devotionals for that reason, they provide the after text prompt questions. These family moments not only strengthen your bond with your children but also deepen your understanding of the Word.

Tip #5-Use Technology to Your Advantage

In today’s digital age, technology can be such a useful tool. I get ready every morning like I were going to a job. Sometimes while doing my facial make-up and hair, I will listen to my daily bible reading. This is such an effective way to get the word. I think it “hits” different having the word read to you sometimes. I have a bible reading plan just for my phone app I use, so I pick up where I left off.

In whatever season yourself in God wants to know you. Doing life with the Lord isn’t a legalistic list of to-dos, its a daily walk in His grace. I hope you find encouragement. Let me know what you current daily Bible reading routine is?
